Ever since I was a child my mom and I have been going on adventures with each other. From going to sushi, just the two of us, to visiting Paris, we have always loved bringing out the best and most adventurous in each other.

This past weekend was no exception.

Last Friday we drove almost two hours to Anacortes, Washington where we visited the Predator of the Heart Sanctuary. The drive was filled with lush autumn colors, non-stop conversation, and overflowing excitement. We were driving into the heart of the wolves' den. The sanctuary is home to not only 30 wolves, but also cougars, exotic and highly venomous snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, a monkey, skunks, linx, and so much more. Around every corner was an animal we had rarely, if ever, seen close up. We held a skunk, snake, and 130 lb wolf, and pet a fully grown cougar. Nothing about this place was normal, usual, or expected.

There are so many animals that I had no idea what they would be like in person. Seeing my tiny mama hug and kiss a full grown wolf if not something I ever thought I would see. Not because my wouldn't do it, because come on my mom is fearless, but because it just didn't seem like something that would be in the realm of possibilities.

The amount of moments that we looked to each other with so much wonder, surprise, and enjoyment were countless. It was an experience of a lifetime and will not be forgotten.

Thank you mama for encouraging adventure always and for agreeing to this adventure with me. I love you and admire you for everything you are.

With love,

Rio
